The Summary
Paen Scott is perfectly happy translating old manuscripts all century, he doesn't need a woman to make him happy. After centuries of waiting around for his Beloved (the woman who can give him a soul), with no luck, it seems he has become rather bitter. His brothers accuse him of brooding over this which of couse he denies. For the last time, Paen Scott does not brood! Along comes a demon sent to collect a debt acured by his father. What's the debt? Find the relic known as the Jilin God in...five days! This would be easy if he'd ever seen it or knew anything about it but alas he doesn't.Half-elf Samantha Cosse, ex-member of the Order of Diviners has recently opened up shop as a private investigater. She's good a finding things, why not use a special ability if you have it?
Paen is Sam's second client and my, isn't he sexy? It's becomes hard to keep the relationship simply professional. There's something about Mr. Scott that's gpt Sam's elf senses tingling.
=============
The ReviewI've read this book twice already and found Paen rather annoying this time around with his I-don't-need-anyone-to-save-me-bull. He refused to see a good thing when he had it right under his nose. He keeps denying poor Sam the love she wanted and it made me feel so bad. Maybe it hit too close to home. Don't get me wrong, the book's good. Sam is such a witty, smart, cute girl...er half-elf. The plot was good and the writing great. I enjoyed the read. Check it out for yourself and tell us what you think!
Take care,
